2021–2031 (Safe and Supported) aims to make significant and sustained progress in
reducing child abuse and neglect and its intergenerational impacts. The Safe and
Supported First Action Plan 2023-2026 and Safe and Supported Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander First Action Plan 2023-2026 were developed in partnership
with First Nations leaders and state and territory governments, and in close
collaboration with the non-government sector. The Action Plans were released on 31
January 2023.
Under Action 7 of the Safe and Supported First Action Plan, DSS will work with the
National Disability Insurance Agency, states and territories, First Nations leaders
and the non-government sector to ensure effective and timely responses for parents
and carers living with disability and children and young people with disability
and/or developmental concerns at risk of entering the child protection system, in
out-of-home care, or transitioning to adulthood from out-of-home care.
