Disability Workforce COVID-19 Leave Grant

Financial year
Purpose statement

Targeted financial support for disability workers who deliver personal support to National Disability Insurance Scheme participants, contract COVID-19, and do not have access to leave entitlements.

Budget Measure type
Description

The Government will provide $14.1 million over two years from 2022-23 for targeted financial support for disability workers who deliver personal support to National Disability Insurance Scheme participants, contract COVID-19, and do not have access to leave entitlements. This will support vulnerable Australians by lowering the risk of COVID-19 transmission in high-risk disability settings. Disability support providers who pay leave entitlements to eligible staff who contract COVID-19 will be reimbursed at a rate of $450 where a worker has lost at least 8 hours but less than 20 hours of work and $750 where a worker has lost more than 20 hours of work. This measure builds on the 2022-23 October Budget measure titled Pandemic Support Payment Extensions.
