Our Australian Antarctic Division delivers Australia's commitment to conserving the Antarctic environment. We also deliver Australia's scientific research and operations in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean.

# Program Body Contribution
1.2 Australian Research Council Program 1.2 Australian Research Council

The Australian Research Council (ARC) is responsible for the management of the Special Research Initiative in Excellence in Antarctic Science. The department is responsible for the Australian Antarctic program. As these two programs support the Australian Antarctic Science Strategic Plan 2011-12 to 2020-21, ARC and the department work together to ensure effective delivery of these initiatives.

1.1 Bureau of Meteorology Program 1.1 Bureau of Meteorology

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) provides meteorological and related services in support of the Australian Antarctic program under a memorandum of understanding. There are also joint science projects underway between the BOM and the Australian Antarctic Division.

2.5 Department of Defence Program 2.5 Navy Capabilities Department of Defence

The Department of Defence provides a range of logistics support services and advice to the Australian Antarctic program, including air and sealift capability to supplement existing arrangements in the delivery of cargo and contributing to aeromedical emergency responses in the region.

2.7 Department of Defence Program 2.7 Air Force Capabilities Department of Defence

The Department of Defence provides a range of logistics support services and advice to the Australian Antarctic program, including air and sealift capability to supplement existing arrangements in the delivery of cargo and contributing to aeromedical emergency responses in the region.

1.1 Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Program 1.1 Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade leads, in cooperation with the department, a whole-of-government approach to Antarctic policy development and international relations, including through the Antarctic Treaty System.

1.1 Department of Industry, Science and Resources Program 1.1 Department of Industry, Science and Resources

As part of the Australian Antarctic Program, the department works collaboratively with the department of Industry, Science and Resources on the Australian Antarctic Science Council.

Body Outcome Outcome owner Contribution
Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water Program 3.1 Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water Bureau of Meteorology Outcome 1 Bureau of Meteorology

The Bureau of Meteorology works collaboratively with the department to provide weather, climate and water modelling and information, including to support priority investment areas and research needs for nationally significant infrastructure. The Bureau is a partner in the Climate Systems Hub in the National Environmental Science Program. The Bureau provides meteorological and related services in support of the Australian Antarctic program under a Memorandum of Understanding. There are also joint science projects underway between the Bureau and the Australian Antarctic Division. The Bureau's water information services inform Commonwealth water planning and decision making in relation to water resource availability.

Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water Program 3.1 Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water Clean Energy Regulator Outcome 1 Clean Energy Regulator

The Clean Energy Regulator is the delivery agency and regulator for the Emissions Reduction Fund, the Renewable Energy Target, the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme and the Australian National Registry of Emissions Units. The Clean Energy Regulator works collaboratively with the Department to understand the impacts of regulatory activity on the market.

Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water Program 3.1 Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation Outcome 1 Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water contributes to Outcome 1 through its policies and programs, and the provision of funding, to support science and research in the areas of marine science, greenhouse gas emission reductions, climate science research and clean energy technology, ecology, ecotoxicology, hydrology, hydrogeology, informatics and risk analysis.

Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water Program 3.1 Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water Department of Defence Outcome 2 Department of Defence

Defence provides a range of logistics support services and advice to the Australian Antarctic program, including air and sealift capability to supplement existing arrangements in the delivery of cargo and contributing to aeromedical emergency responses in the region.
