Heavy Vehicle Road User Charge - increase

The Government will increase the Heavy Vehicle Road User Charge rate from 27.2 cents per litre of diesel by 6 per cent per year over 3 years from 2023-24 to 32.4 cents per litre in from 2023-24. The change to the Road User Charge was a decision of the Infrastructure and Transport Ministers in April 2023 to contribute to road maintenance and repair.
