Establish a Guarantee of Origin Certificate scheme to track and verify emissions associated with hydrogen and other low emissions products, and provide an enduring mechanism to certify renewable electricity.
The Government will provide $38.2 million over 4 years from 2023-24 (and $6.5 million per year ongoing) to establish a Guarantee of Origin Certificate scheme to track and verify emissions associated with hydrogen and other low emissions products, and provide an enduring mechanism to certify renewable electricity. The cost of this measure will be partially recovered from certification fees and partially provided by redirecting funding from 2023-24 from the Strategic International Partnerships Investment Stream program. This measure builds on the 2022-23 October Budget measure titled Enabling a Low Emissions Future and Supporting Green Markets.
